He was a mentor of fellow countrymen leading their lives in support of Korea. It was a pity that he passed away before Korea's independence from Japan. However he left some footprints in the park.

The park, about seven acres, covers his memorial hall and burial site. It is impressive to see his legendary sayings carved into a couple of stones in the park such as ``Young people! If you love your motherland, then first of all, you should build up a man of strong moral fiber yourself."
A noticeable artifact is his sedentary bronze statue pensively sitting on a bench near a standing one. The surroundings are in good shape and are pretty Eco-friendly. One can see various trees and flowers in different seasons as well as watch the birds.
Magpies are inhabitants here, hovering over their nests in the tall trees. Occasionally some starlings are on the wing uttering wheezy sounds.
Objectively speaking the square is a public commons for nearby residents, but subjectively it is their garden-like place. In the early morning mostly elderly people get together to stroll but in the evening, all folks of all ages arrive, some walking with their pets and a number of them sitting on benches chatting with each other or listening to MP3s.
Pets are quite common to spot these days ― they are a new custom to raise and nurse at home. I can notice a number of pet clinics around here, new businesses in Korea. It is a long tradition to have pets in Western societies and they are often left a legacy by their owners as if they were family members.
